The Public Employee Retirement Association (PERA) provides retirement benefits to employees of more than 400 government agencies and public entities in the state of Colorado. Its membership includes state government employees pubic school teachers and many of the public state university and colleges. PERA was established by the Colorado General Assembly in 1931 and is a substitute for Social Security for most of these public employees. Visit PERA's website for more information.
